1. Thumbnail score:
I’m giving this a 4 out of 5.
User-generated content is a winner for skincare brands (or any industry, really). People trust content from regular folks more than traditional ads.
UGC also lets brands engage with their customers personally.
That said, the thumbnail could have been better with an overlay headline, which would cut down the CPM.
2. Hook Score:
This gets a 4 out of 5 from me.
Skincare tutorials are dominating the Internet right now.
This ad cleverly mimics an influencer video and seamlessly integrates the brand into the routine. The jump cuts and shaky camera work well to hook the audience.
3. Retention Score:
This is a solid 4 out of 5.
Shorter videos (below 20 seconds) are winning right now, and I’ve said this time and again.
This ad is just 15 seconds long and showcases multiple products quickly. People will likely watch it on repeat to catch everything.
4. Click Score:
This gets a 3.5 out of 5 from me.
The headline explains the offer well.
Plus, since the ad has been running for a while, it has gathered significant social proof through engagement, which will boost the click rate.
5. Ugly Score:
This is a 4 out of 5.
The UGC format lends a lot of authenticity, making it relatable and engaging.
However, it misses an opportunity to enhance its impact by not incorporating overlay headings or text, which would have been perfect for this format.
6. Congruency Score:
This is a 5 out of 5.
You’re redirected to a landing page that highlights the exact same offer from the ad right at the start.
This validates your choice. Additionally, you can get all products in the skincare routine with one click on the landing page. Reducing unnecessary friction in the buying process is going to boost sales here.
Caption:
The caption is in a different language, so I won’t comment on it.
However, it’s a one-liner, which likely doesn’t add much value to the ad.
A longer caption that explains the skincare routine or the offer with proper spacing and emojis would have worked wonders.
How can you use this for your business?
Start incorporating UGC in your ad campaigns. It’s authentic, relatable, and trusted by users more than polished ads.
Enhance your thumbnails with overlay headlines to immediately communicate the value proposition. This can help lower your CPM by making your ads stand out and delivering your message faster.
Keep your videos short and sweet. Aim for 15-20 seconds to ensure higher retention rates.
Don’t overlook the power of a well-crafted caption. Use it to further explain the product benefits, include a strong call to action, and employ emojis for better readability and engagement.
