I’m giving this a solid 4 out of 5.
One of the best ways to introduce a new product category is by showing the real-life use case – exactly like this ad does.
The UGC-style creative shows a pet parent preparing a meal for their dog using this ready-to-eat pet food box, making it feel genuine and relatable.
What I really like here is the use of native Meta features – especially the overlay headline.
The value prop is clear: warm, fresh meals in just 3 minutes. That said, the absence of a pet in the thumbnail is a miss.
If there had been a dog in frame, the ad would’ve instantly clicked with the right audience.
That small change could take this from a good creative to a great one.
2. Hook Score:
This gets a 4.5 out of 5 from me. The ad opens with ASMR-style visuals and sounds – chopping, pouring, prepping.
It immediately pulls you in. The first three seconds are packed with jump cuts and changing angles, keeping things visually interesting and encouraging people to stick around.
You don’t know what’s being made, but you want to find out. That suspense is what makes this hook work.
3. Retention Score:
Solid 4.5 out of 5.
There’s a clear build-up here: from prep to plating to the final reveal. And the reveal? A super happy dog about to eat. The pacing is quick enough to hold your attention, but not so fast that you get lost.
There’s also just the right amount of action packed into those 24 seconds to make people want to rewatch. Let’s be honest—dog content always wins the internet.
4. Click Score:
This gets a 5 out of 5.
The creative first builds curiosity, and then the offer seals the deal. A new category like this one needs to overcome consumer hesitation – and the way to do that is through sales promotions and strong CTAs.
This ad highlights both. Plus, since it’s been running for a while, it has already built up a decent amount of social proof. That added credibility is definitely going to improve CTR.
5. Ugly Score:
This is a 5 out of 5. UGC-style ads work because they don’t feel like ads – and this one gets that right.
The ad looks raw, uses real-life visuals, and doesn’t try to be overly polished. The messy kitchen, the natural lighting, and the hands-on prep make it feel like content you’d organically come across while scrolling.
6. Congruency Score:
A perfect 5 out of 5.
When you click through, you’re taken directly to the product page that matches the creative.
The page is clean, easy to browse, and shows everything a new user would want to see—benefits, ingredients, reviews, and clear CTAs. That level of alignment between ad and landing page is what drives conversions.
Caption:
The caption is a missed opportunity. It starts strong but ends too soon.
One line isn’t enough to convince someone to click. There’s no depth, no storytelling, no breakdown of the offer. A better caption would have started with a strong hook, followed it up with bullet-point benefits, added a customer quote, and ended with a CTA.
That’s what would’ve completed the loop.
How can you use this for your business?
If you’re launching a new product category, this ad gives you a perfect playbook.
1. First, show your product in action with raw, relatable visuals – ideally featuring your actual customers or users.
2. Second, lead with education, not a sales pitch. Explain the “why” before the “what.”
3. Third, support your creative with a clear offer and back it with strong CTAs.
4. Lastly, always make sure your landing page delivers on the promise your ad makes.
