1. Thumbnail score:
I’m giving this a solid 4.5 out of 5.
User-generated content (UGC) is a power move across every industry because people trust content from real users way more than polished brand ads.
And Meta loves ads that don’t look like ads – UGC-style creatives always win. The seamless use of native Meta features – the overlay headline grabs attention instantly.
The best thing about this video is that it’s a little bit grainy and looks like it’s shot from the customer’s camera or through an interview that lends so much authencity for the audience.
I am 100% going to trust this than any highly strategized and well-shot UGC video. A lot of people nowadays claim that the trend of UGC ads is dying.
It’s not dying, it’s evolving and this is one of the ways. It’s not that this brand did not have the money to do this in a very well structured way, thy are doing it deliberately.
2. Hook Score:
This gets a 4.5 out of 5 from me.
The person speaks a very relatable problem in the first three weeks and gives a very desirable end result that she achieved with the product. You are instantly hooked with the progress and transformation.
Therefore instead of wasting time, it shows results right away. This is a good way to ease your audience in to storytelling centered around the product.
3. Retention Score:
A solid 3.5 out of 5.
In just 21 seconds, so much is happening that people might to rewatch it a few times just to process everything.
There are multiple people telling their stories of transformation but the video is pretty slow paced and you can make sense of everything in 1-2 times which is going to reduce the retention rate.
4. Click Score:
This gets a 4 out of 5 from me.
The before vs. after storytelling keeps the audience engaged, naturally leading to clicks. But I’m disappointed with the headline and the description on Facebook because it does not do anything to increase the click rate.
A good offer to ease the user to click would have done wonders for the ad. However, it has been running for quite some time now and has gathered enough social proof which is going to i crease the CTR.
5. Ugly Score:
This is a 5 out of 5.
The UGC format lends a lot of authenticity, making it relatable and engaging. At the same time, using native platform features, jump cuts, and unpolished shots make it even better.
6. Congruency Score:
I’m giving this a 3 out of 5.
The landing page takes you to the website landing page rather than the product. While this could be good to generate interest into other products, it would act as an hindrance to the people who come with the intent of seeing the shampoo.
Caption:
The caption starts well. But one line is too less to convince anybody. The caption should include storytelling, reviews, line breaks, emojis, and finally a CTA to complete the deal.
How can you use this for your business?
1. Consumers trust real people more than polished ads. If your industry allows for it, ditch the overproduced, high-budget look and go for something more organic. Encourage real users, employees, or influencers to record videos that look natural and unscripted.
2. Sending users to a general homepage instead of the product page is a conversion killer. If someone clicks expecting to see the product, don’t make them search for it.
3. A one-line caption won’t convince anyone—yet many brands make this mistake. Structure your captions with:
- A compelling hook
- Short, scannable paragraphs
- Emojis & line breaks to improve readability
- A strong call to action
