Hey,
Welcome to the 6th edition of Ad Pulse Monday!
For those new to this series, every Monday, I select an ad or ads that I believe have performed exceptionally well. I’ll break down their success factors, key takeaways, and how you can apply these insights to your business
If you’re already familiar with Ad Pulse Monday, welcome back!
Consider bookmarking these posts, creating a handy repository right in your browser.
Without further ado, let’s dive in!
Also, I should provide some context since this is an image ad.
The metrics used to judge these will be almost identical to those for video ads, except we’ll remove the hook score and retention score for obvious reasons. The rest will remain the same.
We’ll start with the thumbnail score here as well, and I’m keeping the name the same as “thumbnail” to avoid any discrepancies. So, when I mention “thumbnail score,” it means I’m giving a score to the image itself.
I’m doing this to maintain consistent nomenclature.
You could also call it an image score, creative score, or ad score, but to maintain homogeneity, I’m sticking with the “thumbnail score.”
This is followed by the click score, ugly score, and caption. After these, we’ll discuss how you can use this ad for yourself.

1. Thumbnail score:
I will rate this a 5 out of 5. This rating is based on my experience. In almost every industry, I have observed that collages work exceptionally well across all metrics, including CPM, CTR, CPC, and CPLV.
In this image, every frame of the collage is used beautifully, with no pixels wasted!
2. Click Score:
I would give it a 4 out of 5. The caption instills FOMO right from the first fold. Moreover, the ad has been running for quite some time and has garnered significant social proof, as you can see.
This combination is the bare minimum required. The image grabs attention, social proof adds trustworthiness, and the promotion compels immediate purchase. It’s a deadly combo!
3. Ugly Score:
Okay, there’s no doubt that it looks ugly. It appears as though someone created it using Microsoft PowerPoint, and then someone else half-heartedly took a screenshot and posted it to Facebook.
For this reason, I will give it a 5 out of 5 for now. It definitely looks like it was made by a 55-year-old person who knows nothing about computers but knows about the product. This lack of tech savviness somehow elevates trust in that person.
Moreover, if the creative/thumbnail is this bad and yet so many people still like the product, as evidenced by the social proof, then there must be something noteworthy about the product.
Caption:
The caption for the brand is in a different language, so I won’t comment much on that. However, the structure of the caption is a bit wordy, which might make people resistant to reading it.
How can you use this for your business?
- If you’re in e-commerce, use a collage in your DPA and witness the magic. You’ll be astonished by the results. You’ll worship me if you do so, but I know you won’t, so never mind.
- Keep it amateur to decrease CPM, allowing you to reach more people at affordable rates.
- Use post IDs of old ads to continue building social proof!
