I’m giving this a 5 out of 5.
Meme ads are winning right now! I’ve used them and achieved a 34% higher conversion rate with my ads.
This ad creative does a great job of using a popular meme to promote its sale offer. Meme ads increase engagement rates by almost 60% and usually have a low CPM—unless you use a terrible meme.
Apart from using the meme, it also leverages native Instagram features, which are bound to reduce the CPM even further.
2. Hook Score:
This gets a 5 out of 5 from me.
The meme and the overall look of the ad immediately grab your attention and keep you hooked. Using meme ads is risky if you don’t follow up it with a good offer, people just scroll past.
However, the offer in this ad and the text block will keep you hooked here.
3. Retention Score:
This is a solid 4.5 out of 5.
At just 8 seconds long, the ad packs enough punch to make you want to watch it repeatedly, trying to catch all the details and fully grasp the joke and the message.
4. Click Score:
This gets a 3.5 out of 5 from me.
While the meme does a fantastic job of grabbing attention and the sale might boost clicks, there’s a slight disconnect between the offer presented and what the headline promises, which could deter some.
Additionally, the ad could have leveraged the description to increase the CTR.
5. Ugly Score:
This is a 5 out of 5.
Meme ads work because they don’t look like ads. People’s feeds are constantly clogged with ads from competing brands, so they mentally screen ads out.
But meme ads cut through this marketing clutter and deliver the message to your profitable audience.
6. Congruency Score:
This is a 2.5 out of 5.
While you’re redirected to the landing page of the brand, it does not highlight the same offer as mentioned in the ad which can frustrate users who clicked expecting what was advertised.
Caption:
This caption gets a 1 out of 5.
While it complements the meme, it hardly enhances the ad’s message.
A more effective caption would expand on the ad creative, adding value and reinforcing the call to action.
How can you use this for your business?
- Memes are not only relatable and engaging but can also drastically reduce your CPM and boost engagement. Just ensure that the memes you choose resonate with your target audience and fit naturally with your brand’s voice.
- Keep your ads short and sweet. The quicker you can communicate your message or value proposition through humor or intriguing content, the better you hold attention.
- Your ad must clearly articulate the offer. If you’re promoting a sale, discount, or special promotion, make sure it’s unmistakable and irresistible. A confused shopper won’t convert, so ensure your ad and the landing page it leads to are perfectly aligned in messaging.
