1. Thumbnail score:
I’m giving this a solid 5 out of 5.
There’s a misconception that Us vs. Them ads violate Meta ad policies, but that’s not true. This classic format consistently drives conversions.
This ad executes the Us vs. Them approach perfectly by grouping competitors under “other brands.”
It doesn’t directly criticize competitors but persuades the audience why True Classic is their best choice for a t-shirt.
The ad doesn’t scream “advertisement,” and the headline effectively grabs attention. I believe this ad has a low CPM and effectively stops the scroll.
2. Click Score:
This earns another 4 out of 5 from me.
The ad grabs attention with its benefits and comparisons. What really makes this ad shine is the compelling headline and clear description of the offer.
I deducted a point because the description exceeds the character limit, making it difficult to read fully. However, its longevity and social proof will undoubtedly boost the CTR.
3. Ugly Score:
This is a good 4.5 out of 5.
When done right, the Us vs. Them format can be a game-changer for your business. This ad avoids flashy branding and directly addresses customer pain points.
It’s not overly sales-focused but speaks directly to the target audience. The design isn’t overly professional, which actually works in its favor, giving it an authentic feel.
4. Congruency Score:
This ad’s congruency score is a solid 5 out of 5.
You’re directed to the brand’s product page where you find a variety of SKUs listed. The landing page is clean and user-friendly, showcasing offers and sale items prominently.
The categorization of products into packs with discounts on bundles will likely increase the average order value (AOV) for the business.
Caption:
This caption gets a 4 out of 5.
It’s concise and clear, effectively explaining the offer with bullet points, paragraph breaks, and emojis to enhance readability.
Adding a clear call-to-action (CTA) would make it perfect.
How can you use this for your business?
- Don’t be afraid to use the Us vs. Them format in your ads. It’s effective and within Meta’s ad policies. Like this ad, group your competitors under a general category like “other brands” instead of naming them directly. Focus on why your product is a better choice, addressing customer pain points and preferences.
- Address customer pain points directly and speak to your target audience without being overly professional.
- Categorize products in bundles with discount offers to increase your Average Order Value (AOV).
- Use short, clear, and engaging captions. Utilize bullet points, paragraph spacing, and emojis to make the text more consumable. Don’t forget to include a strong Call to Action (CTA) to guide your audience toward the desired action.
