1. Thumbnail score:
I’m giving this a 5 out of 5.
Meme ads are winning right now! I’ve used them and achieved over 30% conversion rates with my ads. This ad creative does a great job using a popular meme to promote their brand.
You know it’s relatable because you probably thought, “of course,” when you saw it.
Meme ads increase engagement rates by almost 60% and usually have a low CPM—unless you use a terrible meme.
2. Click Score:
This earns a 3.5 out of 5 from me.
The ad catches your attention with the meme, but the headline does nothing to elevate the offer.
I’m giving this a high score because meme ads generally have a high CTR, and just look at the social proof with the ad.
That’s definitely going to boost the click rate.
3. Ugly Score:
This is a perfect 5 out of 5.
Meme ads work because they don’t look like ads. People’s feeds are constantly clogged with ads from competing brands, so they mentally screen ads out.
But meme ads cut through this marketing clutter and deliver the message to your profitable audience.
4. Congruency Score:
This ad’s congruency score is a solid 5 out of 5.
You are redirected to the brand’s landing page, which has the same funky style as the ad, just as you would expect.
Caption:
This caption gets a 2 out of 5.
While the one line does a decent job complementing the meme ad, it does almost nothing to boost the overall ad.
If you want to engage your target audience, try writing better captions that elevate your offer and have a clear, well-defined CTA.
How can you use this for your business?
- Meme ads are pure gold right now. They blend into the social feed, making them less intrusive and more engaging. Identify popular memes that resonate with your target audience and creatively tie them back to your brand. Boost interaction by inviting your audience to participate in the conversation. Ask questions or for feedback in your ads to encourage a flurry of comments.
- Even if your ad creative is strong, a weak headline can let you down. Use the space to add value by clarifying the offer, highlighting benefits, or introducing a compelling call to action (CTA).
- Your caption shouldn’t just be an afterthought—it’s a critical part of your ad. A well-crafted caption can amplify the impact of your ad creative, reinforce your brand voice, and guide users towards taking a desired action.
