1. Thumbnail score:
I’m giving this a solid 5 out of 5.
This ad is a masterclass in doing conventional ads right. From the first glance, you know it’s an ad – there’s no attempt to hide the branding or the product.
But what does stand out is how well it grabs attention. The all-black theme is bold and instantly pulls the eye in a feed full of pastel, white, and overly-designed creatives.
There’s a lot going on in the frame, but it’s structured in a way that makes you want to pause and take a second look.
This clearly targets a BOFU (bottom of funnel) audience – people who already know about Huel and just need a nudge to stock up.
Showing bundles and emphasizing value is a smart way to push bulk buying and increase AOV. Plus, the price and freebie callouts are front and center, making it super easy for someone to justify the purchase.
2. Click Score:
This one gets a clean 5 out of 5.
The creative nails the positioning.
It’s structured, sharp, and loaded with value. The headline and description work well together – they highlight the offer without overcomplicating things.
More importantly, the ad has been running for a while now, so it’s gained enough social proof to boost its performance even more. And of course, calling out freebies is always going to be a click magnet.
This is how you build a strong CTR.
3. Ugly Score:
This gets a 3.5 out of 5 from me.
The branding is loud and clear, and the ad still follows conventional layout guidelines – but that’s okay.
It leans into a more infographic-inspired design that actually makes it feel a bit more native.
While it’s not a textbook ‘ugly ad,’ it still breaks away enough from glossy, polished formats to give it an edge. And that’s going to help bring down the CPM.
4. Congruency Score:
I’m giving this a perfect 5 out of 5.
The landing experience is exactly what you’d hope for.
The product page matches the ad creative perfectly – same products, same messaging. You don’t need to second-guess if you’re in the right place.
The layout is clean, the offers are visible, and everything from the CTAs to the reviews is strategically placed. Zero confusion, zero friction. That’s how you convert traffic.
Caption:
The caption gets a perfect 5 out of 5. It’s got everything – storytelling, bullet points, paragraph breaks, and emojis that make it engaging and easy to read. Plus, it wraps up with a clear CTA that ties everything together perfectly.
How can you use this for your business?
1. If you’re running ads to a warm audience, consider switching your creative strategy to something that speaks directly to their mindset. People who already know your brand don’t need education—they need a reason to act.
2. Bundling products and showcasing clear value (freebies, savings, bulk deals) is a proven way to increase average order value.
3. Don’t shy away from leaning into bold design choices if your competitors are all playing safe. A strong visual identity (like an all-black layout) can cut through the noise instantly.
