1. Thumbnail score:
I’m giving this a solid 4.5 out of 5.
User-generated content (UGC) is a power move across every industry because people trust content from real users way more than polished brand ads. And Meta loves ads that don’t look like ads – UGC-style creatives always win.
The seamless use of native Meta features – the overlay headline grabs attention instantly. What’s even more interesting here is that instead of just selling a product, this ad is selling a transformation.
The before-and-after format speaks directly to the audience’s desire for change, making them emotionally invested in the story. The user is the hero, and those who relate to the struggle will see the product as the clear solution.
2. Hook Score:
This gets a 5 out of 5 from me.
The first three seconds are perfect – the visuals and overlay headline immediately set up a strong narrative. It hooks the audience with progress and transformation, and instead of wasting time, it shows results right away.
The product is integrated within the first few seconds, so there’s zero confusion – people instantly know what they’re watching and why it matters.
3. Retention Score:
A solid 4.5 out of 5. In just 17 seconds, so much is happening that people are bound to rewatch it multiple times just to process everything.
The fast jump cuts, changing visuals, and clear transformation keep viewers locked in from start to finish. This is textbook ad storytelling done right.
4. Click Score:
This gets a 4 out of 5 from me.
The before vs. after storytelling keeps the audience engaged, naturally leading to clicks. The headline reinforces the offer and adds credibility.
However, small tweaks – like making the key offer more prominent – could have boosted the CTR even further. It’s almost there, but a little refinement could push it into 4.5 or even 5 territory.
5. Ugly Score:
This is a 5 out of 5. The UGC format lends a lot of authenticity, making it relatable and engaging. At the same time, using native platform features, jump cuts, and unpolished shots make it even better.
6. Congruency Score:
I’m giving this a 3 out of 5.
The landing page takes you to a customized product quiz, which is a smart move in today’s world of personalization. However, this should have been mentioned in the ad itself to set the right expectations.
If users knew upfront that they were clicking for a personalized skincare recommendation, they’d be even more motivated. That said, the value proposition remains strong, so it’s still a solid, well-aligned experience.
Caption:
This caption is on point. It’s well-structured with paragraph breaks and emojis that make it easy to read. It also spotlights the product benefits and ends with a strong CTA, tying everything together nicely.
How can you use this for your business?
1. Sell a Transformation, Not Just a Product – Before-and-after visuals, progress stories, and testimonials build emotional investment and make the product feel essential.
2. Hook Viewers in 3 Seconds – Jump straight into the transformation without fluff. Your audience should immediately know what they’re watching and why it matters.
3. Use UGC Elements – Meta prioritizes authentic, real-feel content. Use native platform features, raw footage, and real customer experiences to build trust.
