1. Thumbnail score: I’m giving this a 4.5 out of 5.
The thumbnail instantly grabs your attention with a graph that highlights different SKUs and how each one fits a particular customer need.
I love this for several reasons, but mainly because it’s so different. It creates curiosity about what the product is.
It also smartly tackles objections by showing when and why you’d pick each version of the product, which is important for a new category.
By doing this, Thinx positions its products better than other commonly used solutions in the market.
2. Hook Score: This gets a 4.5 out of 5 from me.
After the thumbnail draws you in, the ad keeps you hooked right from the start. In the first three seconds, you see a quick case study of a target consumer.
You get a sense of how to find the right fit, and the constant movement in the frame helps maintain your interest.
3. Retention Score: I’m giving this a solid 5 out of 5.
The entire ad is just 10 seconds long but crammed with information, so it likely has a very high retention rate. People may watch it repeatedly to fully grasp the offer and all the details.
The ad never shows the full graph at once, so viewers might pause or replay to catch it all. The peppy music also complements the visuals perfectly, adding to the retention rate.
4. Click Score: This also earns a 5 out of 5.
The CTR for this video ad is bound to be high because it asks for minimal commitment: just take a quiz to find the right fit. It’s not directly pushing the product, which helps ease customer objections.
Personalization is huge right now—people don’t want a one-size-fits-all solution. Thinx taps into that by showcasing its customization factor.
Plus, the ad’s been running for a long time, so the social proof will boost CTR even further.
5. Ugly Score: This gets a 5 out of 5.
The ad never shows the actual product, yet it masterfully centers the various SKUs in the storyline. The video looks simple, almost like someone with basic design skills put it together.
That simplicity adds credibility because it doesn’t feel overly polished or salesy.
6. Congruency Score: This is a 5 out of 5.
Clicking the ad takes you straight to a landing page with the exact same quiz mentioned in the ad, which validates your decision.
The landing page itself is clean and has strong copy. It also mentions that the quiz takes only two minutes, which helps reduce procrastination.
They could highlight that in the ad too. The only downside is that the page’s load time is a bit high compared to others, which might cause some drop-offs.
Caption: The caption here is a missed opportunity. A one-line caption isn’t enough for a category that requires more information. Consumers want details, so you need a proper, well-written caption that fully supports your offer.
How can you use this for your business?
- If your product or service comes in various options, highlight how each one solves a unique problem. Use visuals like charts or graphs to make it easier for your audience to connect their needs with your solution.
- Personalization is key in today’s market, and offering a tool like a quiz can help reduce customer friction. It’s a low-investment action that creates a sense of curiosity and ownership, making people feel like the product is tailored to them. Think about how you can use quizzes, surveys, or interactive elements to help your audience find their perfect fit.
- Simple, clean visuals with a clear value proposition can work wonders. Avoid over-complicating your creative; focus on presenting your product as authentic and trustworthy.
